We have many things to be thankful for in 2A! We are thankful for the veterans that have served our country and protected us. We honored them at our Veteran's Day ceremony in the gym. We are thankful for our November guest readers. We always enjoy hearing the books they bring to read to us. We are thankful for Mrs. Freyou for making the library such an inviting place to be. We are thankful for Mrs. Kirkley for leading us to help others. This month she involved our class in making place mats for a local homeless shelter. We are thankful for our Stars of the Week for November. We are thankful for our cooperative classmates. We had such fun building bridges together in science. We are thankful for our critical friends for helping make the biography presentations awesome. We are thankful for our parents, third and fifth grade learners, and all of our guests who came to see our Living Museum. It was a HUGE success! Last of all, we are thankful that we go to school and work in such an amazing school as Pinkerton where learning and teaching is such fun! Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Today we continued to work on our research for our Living Museum presentations. Learners are practicing picking out important details about the leadership of the person they are researching. We also took our Friday spelling test. I am happy to say that more and more learners are studying hard and working carefully to spell their words and use them correctly in sentences. In the afternoon, we worked on our goal tracking. We are coming to the end of our first goal period. Hopefully many learners will reach the academic goal that they set.
We are working hard during our literacy workstations to practice our reading and writing. In math, we continue to work on adding doubles and adding two-digit numbers. Last week was Red Ribbon Week. We discussed the importance of keeping our minds and body safe and healthy by eating healthful foods, exercising, and staying away from drugs. On Thursday we enjoyed using flashlights to find and read our library books. After we carved our pumpkin, the class voted to name it Awesome Matthew. Hmmm... And we have enjoyed hearing two Guest Readers read to us. We ended the school week with our first Nine Week Assembly. During the assembly we revealed the name of our mascot, Pinkerton Pete. We also acknowledged our Global Citizens for this nine weeks. Congratulations to Matthew, Daniela, and Mari! And of course we can not forget the weekend and all of the spooky fun! Check out some of our classmates in their Halloween costumes.
