We continue our exploration of natural resources by testing materials to see if magnets are attracted to them. Using several types of magnets, learners tested items and sorted them into magnetic and non-magnetic. One learner discovered that magnets can attract objects through other other objects. We did a quick test to see how many pieces of balsa wood could be put between the magnet we were using and the object that was attracted to it.

This past week we practiced counting money in math. On Friday, learners enjoyed looking at foreign currency and making comparisons. We were thankful to have the Dad of the Day work with our class. Thanks for all of your help, Mr. Walker. Learners love working together. We were happy to celebrate birthday #8 with this happy learner. This sweet learner used Dojo points to be able to read to our class. On Friday, we celebrated the end of the 2nd nine weeks with an assembly. It is hard to believe that we are halfway through our year. We were proud to announce our Global Citizens from our class. Mr. Caviness, from the Coppell Education Foundation, came to announce the Red and Black Super Stars for this nine weeks. We were happy that the 2nd grade award went to a learner from 2A! We enjoyed hearing the fourth graders perform at the assembly. We enjoyed hearing from our Stars of the Week from the last two weeks. We are thankful for our wonderful guest readers! Thanks to Mrs. Walker for reading to our class. We celebrated our first birthday of 2018! Happy birthday to this sweet girl!
