We kicked off a new IB unit this week. It is called Who We Are. We are learning about our body systems and how they work together to keep us healthy. We have created paper models of the body and add organs as we learn about each system. We had double Stars of the Week. Both did an excellent job presenting about themselves. Thanks to Mrs. Chancellor for volunteering to read with us and read to us!

This week we were excited to get outside for many of our learning experiences. The warm weather was quite nice, even though the allergens were in the air! We started off the week with a outdoor lesson on temperature and reading a thermometer. Mrs. Pickrell met us in the garden and allowed us to practice reading a thermometer placed in many different materials. Later in the week, we were able to get back out into the outdoor learning area and explore air. We were very excited to be the morning announcement helpers this week. We will continue to help with announcements next week, as well. A big thanks goes to Mrs. Telling and Mrs. Olmstead for volunteering to work with small groups and to Mrs. Schuller for coming to read to us this week. We ended the week with an assembly filled with entertainment and fun. The Pinky Hustle fundraiser kicks off this week and a few big heads came to school to tell us all about it!
This week we wrapped up our unit on Cultural Celebrations by presenting our Google Slide presentations. Learners did an excellent job presenting their findings about traditions in different cultures and discussing the similarities and differences between celebrations. In math, we looked at money from different countries. We observed the similarities and differences among the coins and paper bills. Our class celebrated two birthdays this week. One of our birthday boys was also our Star of the Week. We ended the week with Pinkerton's very own Mrs. Graves reading to us! Thanks for coming to read, Mrs. Graves!
It felt great to be back in class last week. We enjoyed getting back in the swing of things by chilling out in the library and enjoying some good books. We continued to work on our cultural celebrations presentations and are looking forward to presenting them to our class soon.
Thanks, Mrs. Huckle, for coming to read to us on Friday afternoon. We loved the book with no pictures! We look forward to warmer weather and mid-year assessments this coming week!
