It is amazing that January is over already. The last week was filled with many activities. We started out our week looking at how our bodies work. We are learning how our body systems work together. As we learned about each system, we added the important organs to our paper bodies. We celebrated two birthdays this week. The treats were yummy!!! We kicked off registration for the Pinky Hustle. Prizes were awarded for registering. We ended the week with a guest reader who is also an old friend.
Thanks, Mrs. Baker!

We have been very busy this month! We finished up our last IB unit on Celebrations and started a new one. In between, we explored some interesting and fun science concepts. Check out our activities: The theme of our new IB unit is Who We Are. We will be exploring our health and well-being. We have started off by learning about our body systems. As we explore each system, we add organs from that system to a paper model of a body. Our two Stars of the Week did an excellent job presenting their posters and personal items. We enjoyed listening to two fabulous guest readers. It was our week to help with morning announcements. Global Citizens for the second nine weeks were recognized at our assembly on Friday. Congratulations to our deserving second grade learners! We are looking forward to the last week of the month!
The first week of 2015 was a busy one! We finished out Cultural Celebrations unit by learning about how people celebrate the new year. We learned about foods that bring good luck, songs, resolutions, and how people in other countries celebrate the new year. In math, we worked on double-digit subtraction with regrouping. We also reviewed our basic subtraction facts during math work stations. Our new unit is Balance and Motion. We started off by exploring and creating things that spin. Thanks to Mrs. Graves for being our guest reader this week. We enjoyed hearing her read books written by Jamie Lee Curtis. We are looking forward to a warmer week next week! We are back to business as usual in 2A! Everyone came ready to work today. We started off the day playing Find Someone Who to learn what everyone did on their winter break. The we got busy sorting our spelling words for the week. Following Daily Five work stations, we made a tree map to organize our thoughts on New Year's resolutions. Then we drew ourselves and wrote about our most important resolution on our New Year's hats. |
