We have so many wonderful new faces at Pinkerton this year and we have been spending time getting to know one another. We used a double bubble thinking map to compare classmates to find out what we have in common and how we are different.
We also created a circle map to tell about ourselves. In the center we wrote our names. Inside the big circle, we wrote words that describe us. Outside the circle, we wrote names of people who have influenced our lives. We learned a lot about each other! Today I shared my "Me in a Bag" items with the class. I brought five items to tell about myself. The items that I brought were a frog because my classroom is filled with frogs, a book because I love to read, a piece of chocolate because I love dark chocolate, a stuffed fish because I like to go fishing for relaxation, and photos of my daughter Emily. All of my items fit into my paper lunch bag. Your child will be bringing home a paper lunch bag to use to collect items for their "Me in a Bag" presentation. I am encouraging them to be as creative as possible when decorating the bag and choosing items to go inside. We will be sharing their bags on Friday.
We had a fabulous first day today in 2A! Everyone worked hard learning routines and setting up our classroom essential agreements. I was particularly impressed by how enthusiastic the children are. I am excited to get back here tomorrow for more learning!
Meet the Teacher was a huge success! I enjoyed meeting all of the learners and families that will be a part of 2A this year. I know that we are going to have an amazing year! Thanks for stopping by!!!
The summer has sped by and it is time to start a brand new school year. I am looking forward to meeting my new class at Meet the Teacher on Thursday night, August 21, from 5:00 to 6:00 pm . I hope my class is as excited about starting the new school year as I am. Together, we are going to explore and discover many fascinating things this year. During the year, I will be blogging about activities going on in class. Comments by learners and parents are welcomed!
